MLTC is seeking a motivated individual to fill the permanent full time position of a Northern Community Counselling Support Worker. The successful candidate will provide clinical & administrative support to the First Nations Community Counsellors (FNCCs) in the 4 Northern First Nation communities. The Community Counselling Support Worker (CCSW) will facilitate the delivery of counselling, crisis intervention & support services to members of the 4 Northern First Nations: Clearwater River Dene Nation, Buffalo River Dene Nation & English River First Nation.
Responsibilities: To be part of the Northern MLTC crisis team & network with MLTC Education, MLTC CFS, SHA Hospital in Meadow Lake & Ile-a-la-Crosse Hospital.
- To ensure MLTC health plan 2017-2027 is addressing the Mental Health Program
- To promote & deliver the Education/Prevention Mental Health Programs
- To establish collaborative working relationships
- To support, management & intervention services during community crises
- To support & facilitate First Nations capacity building (CISM, ASSIST, VTRA, Edu-Therapy, Gnet)
- To support & adhere to the MLTC Community Counselling Program?s vision & principles through implementation of the MLTC Community Counseling Manual
- To provide reports and annual work plans
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor of Social Work degree, strong psychology background, counseling or other related areas from a post-secondary institution of recognized standing, or equivalent education and experience will also be considered.
- Five (5) years of recent mental health and addictions counseling, and experienced in coordinating community-based programs.
- General knowledge on developmental issues affecting First Nations people (i.e. mental health, addictions, suicidal behavior, etc.).
- Experience working with First Nations and sensitive to their culture, values, and beliefs.
- Valid driver?s license and willingness to travel extensively
