Under the direction of the Director of Programs and Services the FSIW will be responsible to immediately respond to all allegations of the maltreatment of children. The FSIW will ensure the protection and safety of the children by conducting interviews and investigations with proper authorities. (Contact employer for complete position summary).
Qualifications:
Must have a BSW and 2 to 5 years direct child protection services experience, or a University undergraduate degree in a directly related discipline and 2 to 5 years direct child protection services.
Knowledge of the FSIN Indian Child & Family Support Act and Sask. Child Welfare Act.
Knowledge of the Cree, Nakota & Saulteaux Culture & the political & social objectives of the YTCCFS member First Nations.
Significant experience in court processes & procedures regarding child abuse & children in care.
Ability to interpret & apply provincial & federal legislation regarding child abuse.
Ability to analyze, assess, recognize & monitor behavioural & physical indicators of abuse
Must have in-depth ability to prepare & present court documents
Demonstrated ability in verbal & written commuication
Ability to utilize computer hardware & software programs
Must have ability to prioritize tasks to meet changing demands, priorities & workload commitments
Ability to use a collaborative approach with professionals & individuals involved in the protection & planing for the children.
Must provide a current criminal record check & submit to Abuse Registry screening
Must sign an Oath of Confidentiality
Must provide a clean driver's abstract & have access to a reliable vehicle
Able to work some evenings & weekends
Candidates selected for an interview are required to provide a current Criminal Record Check, a Prohibited Drug Test Report Certified by a member in good standing of the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Sask. & proof of education upon attending the interview.
