Description

Position Purpose: To oversee all phases of a construction project from initial planning to completion.
Primary Goal: Deliver high quality, well organized projects while minimizing risk to the company.
Supervised by: General Superintendent or President

Key Duties:
Human Resource Functions
-    Responsible for communicating site rules regarding safety procedures to new hires and enforcing those rules;
-    Timekeeping and regular communication with head office;
-    Prepare and communicate the work schedule;
-    Facilitation of safety meetings;
-    Provide conflict resolution.
Supervise Construction Activities
-    Ensure work is conducted according to project schedule and quality requirements;
-    Daily work planning to ensure efficient use of resources;
-    Developing work procedures as needed;
-    Providing training for new hires or directing workers on the order of tasks to be performed;
-    Regular inspection of work performed by employees, other contractors and sub-contractors;
-    Be available to work at various locations across western Canada;
-    Coordinate the activities of a variety of tradespeople, professionals and laborers;
-    Able to interpret designs, drawings, grade stakes;
-    Work with the architect or engineer and ensure quality control is met;
-    Operate equipment, and labour as needed.
Experience and Education
-    5 to 10 years of industry experience;
-    5 years as a heavy equipment operator and /or;
-    5 years as a foremen or superintendent on site or plant, and municipal infrastructure.
-    Experience or education relating to leadership, team building and problem solving
