The Saskatchewan Teachers Federation is looking for a creative communicator to develop and implement strategies and content to build meaningful connections amongst teachers and engage the public in issues and activities in PreK-12 education in Saskatchewan.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Communications, the Communications Officer is responsible for developing and implementing strategies and content to build meaningful connections amongst teachers and engage the public in issues and activities in PreK-12 education in Saskatchewan.
Primary responsibilities include monitoring and responding to Facebook and Twitter posts; recommending opportunities and assisting with the use of paid digital services to promote content; and growing the STF social media presence on existing platforms as well as looking for opportunities to expand to other channels.
An undergraduate degree in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations or English, combined with 2-3 years of related experience in activities such as reporting, writing, editing and video production. This position requires extensive knowledge of various social media platforms and tools, paid digital services and tracking platforms such as Google Analytics. Strong writing skills are required to complement and collaborate with the design and production team to generate a wide variety of original content including text, images and video. Some travel throughout the province is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
