Description

The Good Spirit School Division has an opening for a unionized temporary part-time position of Aboriginal Community Worker located at the Yorkton Regional High School.
  
Your assignment will be 3.75 hours per school days with the work schedule assigned by the Principal.  Currently, the hours are set from 12:30-4:15pm with one 15 minute break.

The term is to commence as soon as possible and expire June 29, 2018.

Qualifications:  Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent; Experience and/or training working with at-risk youth; Experience working with First Nations Youth and a working knowledge of the First Nations culture; Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment, possess good communication skills and has demonstrated ability to network with First Nations communities.

Duties are to plan and oversee the annual First Nations' cultural event in the spring; schedule Elder visits; Conduct home visits as required; create opportunities for First Nations cultural activities such as beading and drumming; Facilitate sweats with the Native Studies classes; Provide transportation to students unable to arrive to school for exams; Work closely with the staff of the YRHS Student Services Department to monitor student attendance; Promote cultural awareness, counseling, mediation and other duties as outlined in Administrative Procedure 461 - Aboriginal Community Worker: Role and Responsibilities and other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Salary and benefits are in accordance with the current CUPE Local 4784 Collective Bargaining Agreement.
