Description

The Yorkton Tribal Council is seeking a Director of Operations and Finance with direct responsibilities to oversee the management of all YTAI programs and services to meet the needs of YTC First Nations members in a reasonable and efficient manner.
The individual will be responsible but not limited to the following duties:
- Report on a regular bases regarding organizational status against, and ability to meet, its strategic and opertional objectives
- Collect and analyze cost data versus budget for ascertaining financial performance and risk assessment
- Manage budget and controls expenses
- Prepare reports and evaluations for individual projects
- Review, monitor and enforce all YTAI policies relevant to accounting, budgeting, forecasting and project tracking
- Communicate and collaborate with department directors/managers to stay abreast of spending, budgeting and reports
- Monitor legislation, regulations, and policies applicable to financial reporting and operations, and ensure (YTAI) compliance
- Lead and supervise finance department staff on accounting reporting, internal controls, budgeting and other financial matters
- Hire, train, develop and evaluate staff
- Provide leadership
- Research potential funding, programs and projects
- Attend Treasury Board and Chief's Council meetings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Administration or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 5 years senior management at a First Nation or Tribal Council
- Extensive experience and knowledge in dealing with accounting systems, budgets, internal controls, business planning, and assessment management
- Be familiar with strategic planning and implementation
- Effective attention to detail and high degree of accuracy
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
- Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
