Under the supervision of Director of Social Programs, the Residential Caseworker will assist in case management, service delivery and supervision of youth, and household operations of the residential program.
Duties
Assist with household operations, including:
Complete domestic duties (chores, cleaning, cooking, laundry, etc.)
Identifying/notifying supervisor of maintenance issues
Complete necessary yard work
Assist in providing life skills development, including:
Ensure youth residents understand home guidelines/responsibilities (Youth Centered Model and the Residential Services Manual)
Promote positive independent problem solving/decision making skills
Assist in case management and support for youth in the home, including:
Intensive case management
Provide stabilization crisis support
Provide incidental problem solving & emotional support to youth residents
Provide information & life skills support to youth residents (personal, family, housing, healing, safety, work, school, income, etc.)
Provide emergency, incidental behavior management (non-violent crisis intervention)
In addition:
Role model positive behavior and assist youth residents to practice self-help & non-violent problem solving skills daily
Ability to provide effective/accurate written documentation
Maintain confidentiality
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Min 1 yr experience in a residential setting
Experience in case management
Compliance with Risk Management policies of National JHS
First Aid/CPR
Suicide Intervention, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Food Safety training
Valid drivers license
Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector check
Knowledge/Skills
Commitment to vision, mission, & core values of JHS
Familiarity with problems of disadvantaged persons
Excellent communication/organizational/interpersonal/time management skills
Exceptional writing & case management skills
Demonstrated skills in providing supervision to youth
