Description

The Finance Manager, under the direction of the Director of Operations, will provide leadership to ensure that financial health fo the George Gordon First Nation is achieved. You will be responsible for overseeing the day to day financial operations, ensuring all departments are working within their budgets and the financial wellbeing of the Nation. The Finance Manager will ensure that all financial transactions are conducted within relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
Repsonsibilities:
- Policy development, procedure implementation and compliance
- Develop and provide monthly, quarterly and annual reports
- Lead the CDC funding agreements
- Coordinate and oversee departmental budgeting
- Lead and organize the annual Audit
- Work with external stakeholders to ensure reporting requirement are met
- Supervise finance departiment and general interal finance operations; other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Business/Accounting or related field required - combination of education and experience will be considered
- Minimum 5 years senior accounting role - preferably in a First Nation organization
- Excellent organizational, strategic planning and implementation skills
- Experience and training in accounting, computer accounting programs and spreadsheets
- Ability to assign and delegate work, problem solve, answer questions and evaluate performances
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and accounting procedures
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of First Nations people, the cultures, communities, service agencies and political structure
