Description

The Director of Operations (DO), under the direction and supervision of Chief and Council, will provide leadership and support to all areas of George Gordon First Nation. You will be responsible for the day to day operations, ensuring all departments are working within their agreements. The DO will ensure that all Nation operations are conducted within relevant legislation, policies and procedures and coordinate the development and implementation of all such activities.
Responsibilities:
- Policy development, procedure implementation and compliance
- Senior Policy Analyst in public policy development and related decision-making and planning processes as they relate to First Nations initiatives
- Support and review of monthly, quarterly and annual reports
- Negotiate contracts and service level agreements for third party suppliers and/or service providers
- Provide support to departments and Chief and Council
- Assist in the annual Band Audit
- Find additional funding for the Nation's activities as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field required - combination of education and experience will be considered
- Minimum 5 years senior managerial/supervisory experience - preferably in a First Nation organization
- Excellent organization, strategic planning and implementation skills
- Proven skills to interact effectively with employees
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of First Nations people, culture, communities, service agencies and political structure
- Knowledge of provincial and federal structures relevant to First Nations people
- A Valid class 5 driver's license
