Job Description: The Infection Control Practitioner (ICP) will be accountable for providing infection, prevention and control related services within Saskatoon Health Region (SHR) by maintaining an effective Infection Prevention and Control (IP&C) program, providing training and education related to infection prevention and control and infectious diseases, and by consulting on matters related to infection prevention and control within the region and externally as an expert resource. The incumbent will participate in quality improvement or research activities with the IP&C team and with departments or groups within the Saskatoon Health Region.
Required Qualifications

Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or equivalent, or required to obtain within 3 years of employment
Valid Class 5 driver's license
Bachelor Degree in a health-related field
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
Problem solving skills
Ability to competently use computers and software applications as required by the position
Ability to travel both within the region and provincially
Advanced presentation skills
Communication skills to transfer knowledge/skills
Time management skills

Field Hours
Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement.  HSAS seniority within the Saskatchewan Health Authority will be considered under the Selection Criteria.

Ability to effectively articulate the important components of the IP&C program to various types of personnel or clients.
