Job Description: The Infection Control Practitioner is trained and knowledgeable in infection control & healthcare epidemiological principles. This position is responsible to protect & promote the health of the community by using best scientific practices for prevention and assurance of quality health care within the Cypress Health Region. The Infection Control Practitioner specializes in helping to prevent healthcare-acquired infections (HAIs) by isolating sources of infections and limiting their spread; systematically collects, analyzes & interprets health data in order to plan; implement; evaluate, & disseminate appropriate public health practices; trains health care employees and volunteers through instruction and distribution of information on all aspects of infection control practices.
Required Qualifications
Valid Class 5 driver's license
Bachelor Degree in Envionmental Health
Certificate in Public Health Inspection (Canada), CPHI
Experience
Minimum of 2 years experience working in infection control
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Communication skills
Ability to develop and deliver formal education programs
Ability to travel both within the region and provincially
Time management skills

Field Hours
Certification in Infection Control is preferable, but eligibility to obtain within 6 months may be accepted.
Expected Start Date: April 29, 2018
FTE: 1.00
Hours of Work: Shift Information: Days
112.00 hours per 3 week rotation: 14 shifts of 8.00 hours
