Job Description: The Nursing Unit Manager - Inpatient  Surgery is accountable for the delivery of high quality nursing care on the Inpatient Surgical Unit.

The Nursing Unit Manager- Inpatient Surgery is accountable for the efficient and effective use of the units human and material resources in accordance with the philosophy, objectives and policies of the Inpatient Surgery Unit, the facility and the health district.

The Nursing Unit Manager Inpatient Surgery is accountable for developing and nurturing a multi-disciplinary patient care environment which respects the expertise and strengths of many disciplines.  Effective leadership, decision-making and conflict resolution are required to ensure effective use of available patient care resources.  Consultation with the Chiefs of Surgery and Anesthesia is a key priority for the Nursing Unit Manager.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Nursing
Registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (SRNA)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Decision making skills
Demonstrated ability to implement best practice approaches in Nursing delivery models
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with many individuals and groups including staff, students, unions and the general public
Demonstrated excellent leadership, organizational and communication skills
Demonstrable skills in tact, diplomacy, and leadership
Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Access)
Ability to prioritize responsibilities to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure
Demonstrate a strong capacity to promote the Mission and Values of the facility and health regio
