The Village of Avonlea is currently seeking applications for the permanent position of Water Treatment & Distribution Operator. The Water Plant Operator will also be responsible for Village Maintenance for a population of 398 people. This is a full-time position with benefits.
Council is willing to consider contracting the Water Treatment Plant aspect of this position.
Council is seeking someone who currently possesses the following: Class 2 Water Treatment and Class 1 Distribution and Class 1 Wastewater Treatment and Collection preferable; however, Council is willing to consider an individual with Water Treatment Level 1, if the individual is willing to training towards Level 2. The applicant should be willing to work a casual weekend rotation.
DUTIES:
Perform daily operation and maintenance of the Water Treatment Plant
Monitor, control, and respond to alarms for the water treatment plant.
Monitor Wetland Lagoon levels, inspect facility on a semi-annual basis. Take samples as per Saskatchewan Water Security guidelines and maintain logs.
Flush Hydrants twice per year, more often if necessary.
Meter readings every three months
Maintain a good working relationship with fellow employees and Village council as well as public.
Grass cutting
Snow removal
Perform repairs and routine maintenance to Municipal buildings
Road repairs, contact Paving crew for quotes.
Tree trimming, contact Trimmers for quote on large jobs.
Assist with repairs to infrastructure such as water breaks.
Business Garbage Collection & Landfill Maintenance.
