Under the direct supervision of the Director of Operations, the Director of Finance will oversee the financial operations of the Sturgeon Lake First Nation.
Duties will include, but not limited to:
-Preparing accurate, timely and reliable financial statements
-Supervising accounting/finance staff
-Performing the functions of an internal auditor concerning all financial matters within the Band
-Responsible for managing all Band accounts
-Preparing the Band?s annual budgets, coordinating and controlling daily book keeping, preparing financial reports, monitoring cash flow, administering salaries and benefits, and establishing and maintaining internal financial management controls
-Improving the accessibility on management information and creating an environment of accountability
Qualifications:
-A combination of training, education and work experience in the accounting field is required.
-Familiarity with Canadian GAAP principles
-At least five years of increasingly responsible administrative experience working with a First Nation organization
-Previous experience handling funding from Federal and Provincial sources; ie. ISC, FNIHB and CHMC
-Knowledge of Accpac and Excel is an asset.
-Satisfactory security clearance
-Must be able to organize, motivate, delegate, supervise and coordinate personnel
-Must be able to formulate, administer and evaluate programs and projects with budgets
-Proficiency with accounting software
-Notary Public or Commissioner of Oaths would be an asset.
-Salary commensurate with training and experience.
-Preference will be given to Sturgeon Lake Band Members.
