Job Description: This position reports to the Manager of Resident Care Services and consults with the facility nurse managers and manager of staff development. The incumbent is self-directed and requires minimal supervision. The quality and community educator integrates skills and knowledge from nursing theory and principles of adult learning in the provision of direct resident care, clinical co-ordination, clinical problem-solving, education and research for a defined group of residents and/or programs. The incumbent will provide leadership that is visible, proactive and promotes the delivery of resident care through the application of practice standards. In consultation with the manager, resident care services, nurse managers and manager of staff development, the individual is responsible for assessing learning needs of staff, planning and implementing and evaluating designated educational activities/programs either neighbourhood-based and/or facility wide. The quality and community educator will use a consultative approach and research findings to provide support to health-care professionals, residents and families, and others as appropriate.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Nursing
Registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (SRNA) or Registered Psychiatric Nurses Association of Saskatchewan (RPNAS)
Experience
3 years recent and extensive clinical nursing experience in a long-term care setting required.
Experience in developing programs/resources for staff in the areas of planning, implementation, quality monitoring and evaluation.
Masters degree in continuing education or nurisng is preferred.
CPR Instructor Level (not applicable to LTC)
