Responsibilities:
- Provide primary care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses, including assessments, care plan preparation, treatment, and referral is indicated
- Participate in workers health maintenance programs through various activities, e.g., pre-placement and periodic assessments, immunizations
- Perform audio, PFT, drug & alcohol testing and visual acuity testing as required
- Able to work independently with support from our team of nurses and physicians
- Identify health needs for workers, develop objectives, and implement programs in health promotion, maintenance and rehabilitation
- Institute Wellness Programs appropriate to the needs of the workforce
- Act as a resource to the appropriate personnel in developing and maintaining a safe work environment
- Evaluate the nursing service provided for appropriateness and effectiveness
- Provision of immunizations as required
Education & Experience:
- Minimum 2 years experience in Occupational Health
- Current Certifications in CPR and First Aid
- Licensed by the provincial governing body to practice nursing in the applicable province of work (RN, LPN or OHN).
- Audiometric Technician Course and Spirometry Technician Course from MacEwan University preferred
- Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT) certificate would be considered an asset.
- DATAC training courses - Certified Specimen Collector (CSC) & (CSC-D), or similar would be considered an asset.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Participate in professional nursing organizations and assume responsibility for professional growth and development
- Proficient in computer programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Electronic Medical Records (EMR / EHR) systems
- Demonstrated problem solving abilities
- Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality in all areas of responsibility
