Position and Responsibilities
The metallurgist position resides in the technical services department and reports to the process superintendent.
You will be responsible for providing technical expertise to process operations and establishing operational guidelines and control parameters for uranium milling, water treatment, slurry transport and ensuring regulatory requirements are met. Your duties will include daily troubleshooting of plant operations, providing operational set-points, metallurgical accounting, and continuously improving process operations and controls. You will collaborate closely with the Process Operations team and provide consistent operational guidance. You will foster innovation within the operations and technical teams and communicate recommendations to improve operations while assisting with coordination of activities, people and resources on projects to meet project objectives, timelines and budget.
Education and Qualifications
Requirements of the position:
Bachelors degree in chemical, metallurgical or mineral process engineering
A minimum of four to eight years of relevant work experience
Professional Engineering designation (P.Eng) , or international membership equivalent
Proficient and effective communication, analytical and interpersonal skills
Demonstrate resolute attitude towards safety
Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft
You must be eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS)
Assets:
Experience with PI Asset Framework & PI Vision
Experience in application and tuning of Process Control loops, including Advanced Process Controls
Experience with crushing and grinding circuits
Proficiency with mass and water balances
Experience with managing small projects
Experience with time series data analysis and interpretation
