Job Description: The HIV Strategy Coordinator for the Saskatoon Health Region will be responsible for leading the continued implementation, monitoring, and ongoing evaluation of Saskatchewans HIV Strategy at the regional level. The Coordinator will participate in strategic planning of the HIV response as client needs evolve, and as new knowledge, funding, and opportunities arise. The Saskatchewan HIV Strategy aims to reduce the rate of new infections, facilitate access to therapy and treatment, increase quality of life, and decrease discrimination. This will be achieved under the four main pillars of the Strategy, as listed below, using a combination of clinical, population health, social and community development approaches:
-Community Engagement and Education
-Prevention and Harm Reduction
-Clinical Management
-Surveillance and Research
Required Qualifications
Bachelor Degree in Nursing
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (SRNA)
Valid Class 5 driver's license
Experience
Minimum 5 years of nursing experience in primary care, public/community health nursing, and/or related experience in which leadership, ability and competence in practice have been demonstrated. Minimum 3 years experience with HIV or related experience in sexually transmitted infections or blood borne pathogens in a clinical or community setting.
Minimum 1 year experience working with clients engaged in at-risk behavior and marginalized populations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to communicate with and maintain an effective working relationship with clients from diverse social, economic and cultural backgrounds
Case management skill
