Perform professional work related to a variety of planning assignments including the review & processing of applications related to permitted and discretionary uses, rezoning, subdivisions, building permits, approach/driveway permits & OCP & Zoning Bylaw amendments. Undertake in-depth research and prepare written reports & presentations for Council, the senior leadership team & external stakeholders on issues & topics related to planning & development in the area. Assist with coordination & carrying out of public hearings, surveys, presentations/meetings & other means & forums for public participation. Prepare maps using GIS & other mapping and graphic databases. Prepare communications related to planning matters. Perform field inspections to gather data relevant to the development review process and/or to verify that development projects comply with approved plans. Draft enforcement letters & orders. Prepare & coordinate copying & distribution of bylaws, forms & map changes to meet legislative requirements. Perform administrative & technical duties. Provide excellent customer service in a positive & informative way.
Completed at least the 2nd year of a university program with a focus on community, urban or rural planning or a similar field with preference given to candidates who are studying at the Masters level & those who are nearing the completion of their degree. Excellent communication (written and verbal), customer service & interpersonal skills. Strong analysis & report writing skills. Knowledge of & experience in the preparation of maps and graphic content using GIS. Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Adobe suite products would be considered an asset.
