Organic Certification Specialist - Producers

Pro-Cert Organic Systems Ltd. (Pro-Cert), Canadas foremost organic certification body, is seeking an Organic Certification Specialist for its Western North American office located near Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.  Pro-Cert is North American family-owned and is managed by Professional Agrologists and food scientists. It has offices in Saskatchewan and Ontario and a presence in the United States.  Pro-Cert has expanded its scope to include Gluten Free and Grass Fed Certification and is striving to become a one-stop certifier. Initial training and work experiences likely will involve remote (home office) attendance.

Key Responsibilities:
    Assisting Pro-Certs Certification Coordinators and Managers in the annual certification cycle of organic (and other) producers;
    Evaluation of organic production system plans for compliance;
    Completion of evaluation checklists and related documents;
    Conducting mass balance and traceability audits of organic inventories;
    Investigation of violations and complaints;
    Interaction with clients and the general public;
    Professional Development.

Qualifications:
    Degree or Diploma in Agriculture;
    Degree or Diploma in any applied science will also be considered;
    Good working knowledge of North American food production practices;
    Minimum 2 years experience in applied agriculture;
    Excellent communication and organizational skills;
    Competent computer skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint and other software).
    Preference will be given to applicants with quality assurance & auditing experience.
