Description

Duties Include:
?    Assessing the emergency preparedness and response readiness of PAGC First Nation communities.
?    Develop and deliver all aspects of structural firefighter training to all Saskatchewan, Prince Albert Grand Council First Nation communities and have it certified by the Provincial Office of the Fire Commissioner.
?    Set up and deliver specialized training courses such as Water Rescue, Ice Rescue, Auto extrication and other courses needed.
?    Test the training delivered by a variety of means including ?table top exercises? and exams.
?    Help PAGC communities to develop and maintain Fire Prevention programs.
?    Perform Fire Inspections on Band owned buildings.
?    Review and assist with community emergency response plans when asked to do so.
?    Work with PAGC?s First Nation community?s elected officials when requested during and after local emergencies to give guidance and insight about fire department matters.
Other duties as requested by PAGC?s Commissioner of Emergency and Protective Services

Required Qualifications and Experience:
?    The EPSO must have a relevant diploma and\or pertinent experience and training in all aspects of training structural firefighters, delivery of fire prevention programs and fire inspections.
?    Experience working with First Nation communities and organizations and familiarity with First Nation Culture, history and governance.
?    Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills are required for this position.
?    Experience in the Emergency Preparedness and Response field would be an asset.
?    Ability to train small and large groups of emergency and response personnel by yourself or with other trainers and to maintain records of the training.
?    Experience with working with other First Responders such as police, fire, ambulance and health care workers is an asset.
?    An understanding of the ?incident Command System? of operations.
