Description

Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager for MGBHLM Economic Development Corp., the Program Coordinator is responsible for providing program criteria to participants registered in our Healing, Empowerment, Education & Employment program. This program is designed to promote our participants to higher education, successful employment and healing through promotion of our cultural values with the support of our caring Elders.  It is the chief role of the Coordinator to source out, arrange or facilitate activities that will raise the capacity and increase the self-esteem and wellness of our participants; providing activities that develop life skills, build capacity and independence.
The successful candidate will be trained in Social Work, Mental Health & Wellness or as a Certified Life Skills Facilitator. Other combinations of education, experience and training may be considered.

Job Skills and Abilities:
  Ability to work independently;
Excellent organization, time and general management skills;
Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Knowledge of drug and alcohol misuse, mental health and behavioural issues
Understanding/sensitivity to various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds of the participants
Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries in the workplace and to work professionally, especially with regard to matters of confidentiality
Ability to provide leadership and healthy role modeling
Knowledge of the Nakoda/Cree cultural values, beliefs, practices and ceremonies
