The Emergency Management Coordinator will develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive program to monitor and report on emergency preparedness and response issues for George Gordon First Nation. This position reports to the Director of Operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have a Diploma/Degree in Business Administration and a minimum of 2 years of experience at a community-based program level.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work as a team player, experience in planning is an asset.
Experience working with First Nations organizations, familiar with First Nations culture, history and governance is an asset.
Strong verbal/written communication skills and demonstrated organization skills, with an emphasis on collaborative problem solving.
Exceptional organization and time-management skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILTIES
Assessing the emergency response needs of the Nation, developing a comprehensive emergency response strategy and all hazards emergency plan.
Maintaining a review process for emergency response plans and ensure the Nation is supported by following through with updates.
Assisting with training opportunities related to Emergency Response, First Aid/CPR and First Responders.
Ensuring all programs have developed and can implement upon need their respective Community Hazard Emergency Response Plans (ERPs)
Coordinate and facilitate all communication within the Nation.
Provide verbal and written reports in a timely manner with recommendations to Chief and Council, Director of Operations, health, and other relevant parties.
Arranging and participating in meetings with all relevant parties when requested.
Providing informal/formal training information sessions to staff members on emergency response issues.
Developing, maintaining and distributing a supply of appropriate emergency preparedness training and educational reference material to the nation.
