Job Duties
Tend/operate equipment to clean,wash,strip,sand,remove corrosion,fill dents or otherwise prepare items for application of protective coatings
Load/unload parts for blasting & coating
Move parts by forklift
Paint small items & apply touch-ups using paint brushes or spray cans
Clean & maintain painting & coating,ventilation,compressed air & personal protective equipment
Mark,record & report defects
Clean & perform preparation of work-site
Operate,read & maintain air monitoring & other sampling devices when working in confined spaces and/or hazardous environments
Maintain safe work practices
Monitor supply usage & report on any shortages or material issues
Perform other duties as required
Requirements
High School Diploma,GED or equivalent
One year experience as industrial painter
Critical eye for identifying defects
Ability to work independently in busy environment
Highly flexible,with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
Able to effectively communicate both verbally & in writing
Able to work well under pressure
Strong attention to detail
Able to deal with people sensitively,tactfully,diplomatically & professionally at all times
Additional Requirements(can be attained after hiring)
Crane safe operation training
Safe rigging training
Forklift license
WHMIS
Work Conditions
Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs
Requires visual effort, good manual dexterity(hand, hand with arm,two hands)& multi-limb coordination
Constant light physical effort(bending,reaching,carrying light items,walking,standing)
Regular heavy physical effort(carrying,lifting or pushing heavy items)
Hazards associated with a manufacturing environment
May experience unpleasant conditions such as dust,fumes & heat
Highly repetitive or monotonous tasks
Overtime as required
