THE OPPORTUNITY
As a Childcare Worker at the Piwapan Womens Shelter, you will have the crucial duty of maintaining a physical environment conducive to the optimal growth and development of the children in the shelter, including:
- Planning and executing activities which guide the childrens emotional, social, and intellectual development
- Provide stimulation to encourage cooperative play and encourage other positive characteristics
- Providing learning activities and experiences appropriate to the age group of the children in your care
- Creating a happy, clean, safe environment for children
Success in this role depends on the successful applicants ability to be aware of the unique situations in which the children in their care come from, and to understand how the various backgrounds impact the childs behaviour. Whenever possible, the worker is expected to encourage desirable behaviour in children through positive reinforcement rather than discipline.

WHAT YOU MUST BRING
- Minimum grade 12
- Valid Drivers License
- Able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Check
ASSETS
- Post-secondary education, preferably in education, early childhood development, or childcare
- An understanding of Cree or Dene

- $18.36/hour starting wage
