Job Purpose: School-based itinerant Social Workers provide social and emotional support to children and families to ensure a healthy and positive school experience. Through short term counselling; support assessment, linkage to outside community agencies and crisis intervention and in collaboration with parents/guardians, school personnel and community resources, Social Workers develop behavioural strategies and interventions that maximize opportunities and success in school.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Current knowledge of best practices in childhood and adolescent social/emotional development and impacting factors, such as abuse, disorders and family disruption
Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively engage with a wide range of client groups and understanding of how to deliver culturally responsive services to a diverse group of clients
Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration skills and an ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
Knowledge of community agency and resource mandates including the Child and Family Services Act and the Saskatchewan Child Abuse Protocol 2017
Knowledge and adherence to professional standards and ethics specific to the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers
Qualifications:
Bachelor or Masters Degree in Social Work
Registered and in good standing with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers
Minimum two years of experience
Working Conditions:
As per CUPE Agreement
Equivalent of 4 hours and 48 minutes minutes per day, exact schedule to be determined
To commence August 25, 2021 and ending June 29, 2022
Salary Range: $39.56 - $48.12 per hour
Successful candidate will be based out of Kipling School and will provide support for Whitewood, Kennedy Langbank and Kipling Schools.
