The Rail and Yard Operator will assist with rail and yard operations related to railcar movements, inventory, maintenance, and inspections. It is expected that the Operator will have the ability to understand and follow operating procedures and policies while maintaining a safe work environment
Responsibilities included but not limited to:
Responsible for conducting daily, weekly, and monthly inspections
Responsible for conducting daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance
Become proficient in and follow local, provincial, and federal rail yard operating procedures and policies
Adheres to company safety policies and procedures and willing to enforce them with other employees and visitors
Ability to perform work safely and productively
Capable of working with others as a team
Ability to problem solve
Excellent communication skills (face to face and radio)
Attention to detail and ability to carry out instructions
Flexible in workday task changes
Ability to operate or learn to operate railcar loading systems and equipment
Ability and interested in being cross trained on all operations at the facility
Accuracy and precision in completing necessary documentation
Willing to attend training (on-site and off-site) as it relates to job responsibilities
Assist with other general duties within the facility (general maintenance, landscaping)
Willing to respond to emergencies as part of the Emergency Response Team
To attend to emergencies, successful candidates must reside within 90 minutes of the site
Willing to work a rotating shift work schedule, overtime, holidays, nights and weekends as required.
Willing to be on call and meet call-out standards to respond to site responsibilities and emergencies
