Description

We are currently hiring a temp part time Residential Support Worker to work with individuals with autism or dual diagnosis to provide care, learning & programming in a residential environment. We're seeking caring individuals to assist our residents with learning new skills, developing increased independence & receiving support in a positive, safe & inclusive home environment. We provide competitive wages & opportunities for development. Hours for the part time evening shifts will be vary between 8-12 hours long, 20-36 hours/week between the hours of 6pm and 6am. There is also an opportunity for casual day shifts between 6am - 6pm or 6pm - 6am. This position begins June 1 for a 10-month contract.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide person-centered support to residents
Design, implement & monitor progress of daily living, employment & recreational programs
Work collaboratively with the team to develop best care standards and individual support plans
Educate residents in the area of self-care, cooking, employment, community activities & maintaining a clean home
Develop positive relationships with family, employers, community members, and other professionals
Demonstrate a caring, supportive approach that maintains dignity & integrity of people receiving services
Demonstrate initiative, be resourceful & creative
Follow daily routines and schedules

QUALIFICATIONS
Completed / working on a diploma or degree in a related discipline from a recognized post-secondary educational institution
Excellent knowledge & understanding of autism and strategies to support individuals
Experience working with people who have autism or a cognitive disability
Experience/education in mental health. Mental Health First Aid training is a strong asset
Certification in CPR/First Aid and Crisis Prevention and Intervention or must obtain certification within a 3-months.
Vulnerable Sector Police Check
Valid drivers license with clean abstract & reliable transportation
