Reporting to the Public Works Manager, this position is responsible for ensuring the City's vehicle and equipment fleet operates as smoothly as possible, including:
Inspecting loaders, graders and other equipment for proper performance, and inspecting equipment to detect faults and malfunctions and determine required repairs
Adjusting equipment and repairs or replace defective parts, components or systems using hand and power tools
Testing repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers specifications
Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment
Service attachments and working tools such as blades, ploughs and winches
Qualifications:
Heavy Duty Mechanic ticket
2+ years previous experience in a similar environment
Valid driver's license required
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Good working knowledge of workplace health & safety regulations
Satisfactory results from a criminal record check
Start Date: Summer 2021
Wages: as per Union Contract starts at $27.10/hr in 2021 plus benefits package
Hours: Normal hours of work are Monday to Friday 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
