Description

Westmoreland Mining Holdings LLC currently has 4 positions available for permanent, full-time heavy equipment operators at the Estevan Mine.  Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, this position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy duty equipment in a coal mining environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties of a heavy equipment operator include, but are not limited to:
- Operating heavy duty equipment in compliance with company policies and safety procedures;
- Safely achieving productivity targets;
- Performing routine maintenance and safety checks on equipment;
- Maintaining a clean and safe cab;
- Completing required documentation; and
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- Grade 12 diploma or GED;
- Ability to work 10.5 or 12-hour shift rotations (days and nights);
- Demonstrate the skills and judgment necessary to safely and effectively operate equipment in a variety of terrain, positions, and various weather conditions; and
- Display a good understanding of the fundamentals of ground control and hazards associated with working on slopes, spoil material, near highwalls and during hours of darkness.
