Description

The Collections Assistant will select, research, and compile data on the contemporary Indigenous artworks and a selection of artworks by historical Saskatchewan artists Mac and Beth Hone from the Permanent Collection of the Mann Art Gallery. They will research the historical, social and artistic contexts in which the artworks were created, produce industry-standard photo documentation of artwork, and upload the information and image to CHIN Artefacts Canada online database. They will work with artists to secure contracts for the image display rights. The successful candidate will work alongside the Registrar and Director/Curator to develop a greater understanding of the day-today procedures of a professional art gallery and complete the digitization process for the selected artworks.

The successful candidate will have educational and practical experience in Visual Arts, Art History, or cultural management. Previous knowledge or interest in Indigenous and Saskatchewan art and working in archives or collections is an asset. The candidate should be organized, be able to work with people in a team environment and independently, and possess excellent communication skills. Familiarity with Windows computer systems, word processing, Microsoft Publisher, photo editing software (Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom), and email is also important. The successful candidate must be fluent in English; basic speaking, reading, and writing levels of French and/or Cree will be considered an asset.
