Description

Position Profile:  The Live-in Grandma provides emergency and temporary respite services to children at the CUMFI Supported Living Homes. Referrals for children with the Outreach program must be pre-approved by the Director as priority is given to clients at the CUMFI Supported Living Homes.  The Live-in Grandma is responsible for the safety and supervision of children in her care, as well as meal preparation, and maintaining daily routines. The Live-in Grandma must be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the children who come into her care at varying hours.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
    Supervise and care for children in employers residence
    Maintain a daily log of childrens activities
    Bathe, dress, and feed infants, and children
    Oversee childrens activities, meals and rest periods,
    Instruct children in personal hygiene and social development
    Tend to the emotional well-being of children ie Colic, abuse and neglect, etc
    Organize and participate in activities such as games, crafts, reading, and outings to provide amusement and exercise
    Plan, prepare and serve healthy meals for children using 4 major food groups
    Arrange transportation with Directors for school and to appointments
    Knowledge of safety and emergency procedures; participate in daily client and weekly client progress review, weekly staff meetings or phone calls, other agency related meetings as directed by management
Qualifications:

    Early Childhood Diploma or equivalent training and experience
    Strong understanding of child development and human behavior
    Knowledge and understanding of the history of Aboriginal peoples and their socio-economic backgrounds
    Ability to speak a First Nations or Metis language is an asset
    Criminal and vulnerable persons record check
    Standard First Aid CPR-C and AED
