Job Summary: Responsible for providing full library service to the surrounding community
Circulation duties:
Greeting all customers
Checking in and checking out of library materials
Answering basic queries
Patron registrations and register transactions
Shelf maintenance
Printing and pulling items
Opening and sorting bins of materials
Sending ILL requests to other libraries
Office duties:
General office duties such as recordkeeping and correspondence
Assist with displays
Assist with mending of damaged books
Assist with monitoring of shelf reading
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12
Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, strong keyboarding skills, and the ability to quickly adapt to new computer programs and procedures
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to work well independently and in groups
Outgoing, energetic and service-oriented
Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check (upon hire)
Preferred:
Experience with the circulation module of an integrated library system
Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 15 kg on a weekly basis
Previous library experience
Hours of work: 37.50 hours per week
Starting wage: $15.74/hour per CUPE Local #3077 Collective Agreement
