Responsible for assisting in the planning and deliver of pre-school story hour, assist with summer reading, children and adult programming and circulation duties
Circulation Duties:
-Greeting all customers upon entry to the library
-Checking in and checking out of library materials
-Answering basic queries and referring more complex queries to higher-level staff
-Patron registrations
-Cash register transactions
-Shelf maintenance and roving the library when the circulation desk is not busy
Childrens Programing Duties:
-Assisting in the planning, delivery, and promotion of childrens programs
-Assisting in maintaining the childrens area
-Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
-Completion of Grade 12
-Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, strong keyboarding skills, and the ability to quickly adapt to new computer programs and procedures
-Demonstrated ability to work well independently and in groups
-Demonstrated sound judgement
-Experience with children and knowledge of childrens literature
Physical Requirements:
-Ability to lift, carry and move library materials weighing up to 10 kilograms on a regular basis and up to 15 kilograms occasionally
-Ability to reach a range of shelves between 5 and 200 centimetres above the floor
Other Requirement:
-Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check (upon hire)
Hours of work: 18.75 hours per week
Starting wage: $15.74/hour per CUPE Local #3077 Collective Agreement
