Description

Our client, a well-established and reputable law firm, is currently seeking a Legal Assistant to join their Litigation group.  In this role, you are required to provide full clerical, administrative and general office support, displaying good litigation knowledge as well as excellent proofreading skills and attention to detail.

In this role, you will:
- Prepare and complete all necessary litigation documentation.
- Handle administrative details.
- Address client inquiries and schedule appointments.
- Maintain client files and update database.
- Daily preparation of dockets and accounts.
- Handle travel arrangements  book flights, book hotel rooms and research transportation options
- Prepare mail and courier packages.
- Coordinate and organize meetings, conference calls and maintain agenda.
- Assist with other projects and support other departments as required.

Education:    
- Grade 12.  
- Legal or Law Clerk diploma or suitable combination of education and litigation related experience is preferred.

Experience:
- Knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure, court forms, scheduling and filings.
- 2-3+ years experience in the legal industry is a definite asset, ideally in Litigation.
- Dictation experience.

Computer:
- Proficient in Word, Excel, E-mail, Internet.
    
Personality / Desired attributes:
- Highly organized with excellent proofreading and grammatical skills.  
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, able to work both independently and within a fast-paced, professional team environment.  
- Ability to exercise discretion when dealing with sensitive information.
- Attention to detail and accuracy is a must.
- Ability to take initiative, prioritize and multitask.
- Strong work ethic and demonstrated initiative.
- Flexible, team player that is client service focused.
