Program Outline:
Summer Jam is a FREE, outdoor program for children ages 6 to 16 who live in the Al Ritchie neighborhood. This program offers children the opportunity to engage in physical activity, build leadership skills, promote confidence and overall well-being, and to promote healthy choices throughout the summer months. Throughout the summer, participants will enjoy field trips, special guests, and weekly themed activities designed to stimulate participants curiosity and sense of adventure. Participants will also enjoy lunch and daily snacks thanks to a generous partnership with REACH.
Job Description:
1. Develop and plan programs that are developmentally appropriate for program participants (children ages 6-13 years)
2. Promote, with assistance from permanent Al Ritchie Community Association staff, the aforementioned programs.
3. Organize and provide, with assistance from Summer Jam Program Facilitators, the aforementioned programs.
4. Supervise program participants and program facilitators.
5. Provide a supportive environment in which program participants can learn and practice appropriate and acceptable individual and group behaviors.
6. Interact with parent(s)/guardian(s) of participants. Maintain open and cooperative communication with parents and families.
7. Encourage involvement of parent(s)/guardian(s) in the program and support the family relationships.
8. Perform miscellaneous job related duties, as assigned.
9. Promote and support healthy lifestyles and relationships for Al Ritchie residents.
10. Promote the Al Ritchie Community Association and its other programs and opportunities.
11. Identify areas of concern with program participants and their families and bring these concerns to the attention of their supervisor.
