LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE
OPEN COMPETITION
For the Community of La Ronge

The Lac La Ronge Indian Band Health Services Department is seeking 1 (one) year, Full Time, Definite Term Contract to work as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the Home & Community Care Nursing Program. The ideal candidate will provide community based home care nursing services to community members. This position will be based in La Ronge and will provide services to the 4 (four) LLRIB surrounding communities.
Duties:
Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment;
Ability to work under pressure independently as well as a member of a team;
Providing specialized nursing care for home care and personal care to clients as required;
Evaluating client progress and updating care plan based on on-going nursing assessment;
Performing nursing treatments and procedures as ordered by the physician such as catheterizations, catheter irrigation, injections, sterile dressings, wound care, monitoring blood pressures and blood glucose, monitoring medications, etc.;
Performing rehabilitative nursing procedures in consultation with Occupational Therapist and Physical Therapist;
Providing palliative nursing care and coordinating in-home respite services;
Other duties as assigned by supervisor;
Qualifications:
Registered with the Saskatchewan Association of Licensed Practical Nurses (SALPN);
Acute or home care experience is an asset;
Must be able to work independently, be self-directed and demonstrate organizational skills;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Excellent problem solving & organizational abilities;
Excellent interpersonal, & public relation skills;
Ability to speak/understand Cree will be a definite asset;
Must possess a Valid Drivers License.
A Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector Check and a Drivers Abstract required upon hire.
