Carry the Kettle is seeking an enthusiastic individual who will be responsible for leading the community/strategic planning process. The Navigator will be in charge of engagement and the completion of a clear community/strategic plan. The Navigator will oversee the community engagement and consultation process with the objective of identifying community priorities, goals and objectives that will guide the community planning process. The Navigator will also assist with identifying potential sources of funding and proposal writing. The Community Navigator will ensure that the design, organization, and convening of the planning process serve a clearly defined purpose of identifying priorities, goals and objectives that strengthen and build the capacity of the community.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Leads and facilitates the development, monitoring and review of a variety of community goals and objectives that would be the base for community plans and strategies. Undertakes community consultation and engagement from a diverse makeup of the community in order to identify community priorities and goals. Researches and assembles information from a variety of sources for the preparation of community presentations, program design, records management, report writing, and the development of materials. Analyzes and evaluates survey and consultation data, prepares reports, and makes specific recommendations concerning the development of planning proposals. Identifies and prepares applications for grants, sponsorships and other funding opportunities that will support and expand community initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
Post-Secondary Bachelor degree in a related discipline AND (3) years of direct work experience in community development, urban planning, family support work, project management or other related field
Strong oral and written communication skills;
Knowledge of Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation history, language and culture.
