The Red Rider Enterprises Farm Hand is a part of the team at Red Rider. Their work is multi-faceted and requires a willingness to help in many of the areas of the farm operation including farm machine operations, building maintenance, mechanics, yard maintenance, basic carpentry, truck driving and handyperson work. The work of the Farm Hand, as with all roles at Red Rider, differs and is dependent on the season.
The ability to work independently, learn quickly and ask questions is important for the Farm Hand. They must have strong communication skills and an openness to feedback. They must have a strong mechanical inclination and be willing to work as a team in all areas of the job. Common sense, time management, problem solving and a genuine interest in agriculture and growing things are also requirements of the Farm Hand.
The best Farm Hand is punctual, motivated and confident they see the things that need to be done and they do them. They know and understand working in agriculture can be demanding, especially in peak seasons, and they are willing to work the long hours to ensure peak seasons result in successful operations.
A Class 1A drivers license is preferred but not required. A willingness to complete the Class 1A driver program within a reasonable time frame, with support from Red Rider, is a requirement. Basic knowledge of farming, welding, machine repair and agricultural equipment is required.
The Red Rider team is one that promotes listening to others, gratitude, respecting opinions, a willingness to assist wherever needed, asking questions and not being afraid to speak up.
