Description

One permanent full-time position in Regina OR Saskatoon pending on where the applicant resides.

Job Summary:
The Cancer Registry Data Quality Specialist is responsible for ensuring information within the Registry meets standards for quality and completeness as specified by Provincial, National and International Standards. The Data Quality Specialist reports to the Provincial Leader of the Cancer Registry.

Experience:
Three (3) years experience within the last five (5) years in oncology coding within a cancer registry.

Qualifications:
Active Membership with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA)
Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) designation
Diploma in Health Information Management along with two (2) years of previous experience in coding and abstracting information.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability and willingness to work cooperatively and effectively with SCA staff members and/or external partners.
Ability to code and stage utilizing current oncology systems and standards.
Ability to effectively analyze information, problems, situations, practices or procedures
Accuracy of fine motor movements for typing/data entry is required.
Communication skills are required to develop and present complex information including written documentation and verbal presentations.
Competent in use of a variety of software
Initiative and independent judgment required to solve complex problems.
Knowledge and ability to apply privacy and health information acts, regulations and policy.
Knowledge of basic epidemiology terms, definitions, processes and methodology.
Leadership skills required to lead Agency projects/committees

Other Information:
Bachelor Degree in Health Information Technology is an asset.
