Description

The Client Worker/Counsellor is responsible for providing intake, crisis, short term and group counselling, victim assistance as requested (including accompaniment to police stations and preparation for and accompaniment to court), to survivors of sexual assault and to individuals who have been impacted by the sexual assault of family or friends. Will also provide training for other non-profit staff as well as the general public.
Education/Experience: A Bachelor Degree in Social Work with a minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in the field of sexual violence and/or domestic violence. Candidate/Applicant must have solid counselling experience in trauma related work.
Required knowledge includes:
Theory and practice in counselling adults, teens, families who have experienced violence. Understanding of the psychological, emotional, physical, behavioral and economic impacts of sexualized violence. Crisis management and response experience. Group facilitation techniques and experience. Competence working with diverse populations and individuals experiencing multiple challenges. Computer literacy and familiarity with MS Office and Google programs.
An acceptable Criminal Record Check with a vulnerable sector search and proof of required degree is a requirement of this position.
