Description

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Family Violence Worker will provide individuals and families with a holistic approach to healing through support activities relating to family violence and related challenges such as informal counselling, intervention, and domestic and partner violence education.

Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and elevate community awareness and educational materials on the negative effects of family and domestic violence and the impact on children.
Address the needs of the Saskatoon Domestic Violence Court as it relates to the treatment of offenders and victims.
Provide clients with emotional support, intervention and alternative ways to deal with abuse, anger and unhealthy relationships.
Assist in the coordination and/or facilitation of a women's healing group.
Create a greater awareness of the Family Violence Program within the City of Saskatoon.
Maintain and strengthen positive working relationships with other service providers in Saskatoon.
Maintain accurate client records by documenting individual and group contacts for all clients who are provided services.
Participate in fundraising initiatives and community events provided by SIMFC.

Education and Experience
Diploma in the human services field or closely related field; a combination of work and life experience may be considered.
Must have knowledge of counseling theories and how they apply to intimate partner and family violence prevention.
Must have experience working with Indigenous families and have some knowledge of Indigenous cultures.
Female candidates with Indigenous ancestry preferred (please self-identify in cover letter).

Requirements
Must have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
Must provide a clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Clearance.
Must be prepared for flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends.
