Souris Valley Industries is seeking a Civil Technician to join their growing team. The Civil Tech will produce shop drawings for precast concrete products. Other duties include:
Use a CAD system to layout precast units to correlate with plans, specifications, addendum and the bid package;
Recommend efficient and cost saving product layouts to customers;
Communicate with internal and external contacts to provide products and service to customers;
Document any changes or concerns and forward information to the team;
Create/edit drawings to be used in the plant for production and product erection;
Input ideas to streamline processes and improve standards;
Create and review designs for compliance with engineering principals, company standards and customer requirements;
Provide estimates and bid on projects; and
Perform quality control on manufactured products.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
The Civil Tech must have completed a two or three year college program in civil engineering technology or a closely related discipline. Other requirements include:
Permanent Canadian resident
Ability to read and understand blueprints, customer sketches and specifications
Proficiency in AutoCAD
Ability to correspond well with others and the flexibility to change tasks quickly
Ability to use discretion and independent judgement;
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all internal and external contacts;
