Summer Student JobPOSITION SUMMARY:
Work as part of the Recreation team in providing recreation and leisure activities to enhance the resident quality of life.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Grade 10 student or above.
Experience:
- No previous experience required.
General:
- Acknowledge and support the Core Mission, Vision, and Value statements of Prairie Wind Estate Inc.
- Have an interest and ability to work with the elderly and disabled with empathy and concern.
- Have an ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with staff and other departments.
KEY ACTIVITIES
- Assists with recreational activities, events, and programs to meet the abilities and needs of residents. (e.g. birthday parties, gardening, music/reading programs, baking, devotional, exercises and mobility, holiday events, etc.)
- Accompanies recreation worker and residents on outings.
- Encourages and assists with residents interaction.
- Prepares, decorates, and sets up the facility and organizes crafts or games as set out by supervisor.
- Maintains communications through communication books, daily white boards, calendars, and newsletters.
- Communicates with Supervisor regarding client program participation.
- Assists in fundraising events.
- Assists with distribution of meals and snacks to residents throughout the day.
- Screen resident family members in preparation for visits with their loved ones at scheduled visits.
- Encourages proper hydration of residents throughout the day.
- Cares for plants in facility.
