THE POSITION
The cook will be required to prepare and deliver nutritious snacks and lunches for the children at the Center which meet the Canadian/First Nations Food Guide. This position will be scheduled to work 6 hours per day and 5 days per week for a minimum of 30 hours per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES
-Setting up, cleaning, and organizing kitchen area;
-Prepare ingredients for shift; washing vegetables, chopping, seasoning meat, etc.;
-Prepare oven, utensils, and grill for shift;
-Cook food according to the food health and safety standards;
-Deliver food to appropriate rooms/staff in a timely manner;
-Store all food properly;
-Sanitizing and cleaning work station and utensils on a daily basis;
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
-Training in food preparation for large groups;
-Current Safe Food Handling certification, and WHIMS;
-Current certification in First Aid/CPR;
-Minimum of one year related experience in cooking for childrens programs.
-Certification at Orientation level for Early Childhood Education will be considered an asset.
OTHER CONDITIONS
-Able to work standing, walking, and bending for extended periods of time;
-Able to physically lift & carry lunch buckets to all rooms on main floor and upstairs;
-Capacity to lift and carry goods up to 40 lbs;
-Must possess a valid Saskatchewan drivers license, a reliable vehicle and meet STCs insurance requirements;
-Must provide a current, original, Canadian Criminal Record Check (CPIC) with vulnerable sector search as a condition of employment.
