Description

The City of Swift Current Art Gallery is accepting applications for the position of Curator of Exhibitions & Programming. This is a full-time out of scope position reporting to the Director of the Art Gallery. The duties will include curating exhibitions, assist in gallery installations, assist in development of multi-year exhibition schedule, enhance local art programming and community connections. This position will assist with day-to-day operations including and not limited to working with public, correspondence, registrations for programming, conducting art supply sales, taking membership payments, working with, and training gallery volunteers and maintaining/building partnerships with other city departments and community groups.
Basic Requirements:

Minimum requirement of a Bachelor of Fine Arts OR equivalent education and experience.
Two or more years of experience in Art Galleries, Museums, and/or, Artist Run Centres including proof of programming and curation.
Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, including grant writing.
Knowledge of physical handling of works of art in a diversity of media.
Willingness to be flexible with work schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
Attention to detail, problem solving and organizational skills.
Experience working with artists, interns, volunteers, donors, and the public.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

Desirable Requirements:
MA in Curation, Art History, Fine Arts would be an asset.
Experience in building sustainable relationships in community arts.
Website and design experience.
Knowledge of Adobe photoshop.
Experience working with students.
Familiar with CADAC.
Experience in arts education.
Experience working/living in a rural community.
A valid driver license or the ability to obtain a valid drivers license.
