We currently have an opening for a Field Technician/Technologist in our Saskatoon / Regina offices. You will work for a variety of public and private sector clients, working on transportation projects including roadways, highways, airports, and drainage. You will be the Engineers representative and will be responsible for providing oversight of construction on projects. This includes, but is not limited to:
Monitoring the contractors operations to ensure compliance with contract terms, design specifications, and drawings
Monitoring progress and schedules
Preparing daily & weekly reports
Maintaining projects records and site diaries
Reviewing contractor work procedure submissions
Monitoring of quality control testing
Onsite surveying and material testing
Reviewing on-site quantities
Significant travel will be required as part of your regular job duties. You will be based out of Saskatoon or Regina, depending on the home location of the successful candidate, but will be expected to travel throughout Saskatchewan, including overnight and extended stays.
What you will bring to the table:
Minimum of 2 years of work experience onsite on active construction projects.
Preference given to candidates with of a diploma in civil engineering technology, or an equivalent from an accredited post-secondary institution
Experience in the interpretation of specifications, plans, and regulations
Experience with contract administration and on-site inspection principles, practises, and techniques
Experience using AutoCAD
Knowledge of construction materials and equipment
Strong attention to detail
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
Strong organizational and time management skills
Strong communication skills
Experience with monitoring and coordinating the activities of clients, contractors, and/or staff is an asset
Possess a valid Class 5 driver's license
Willingness and ability to travel extensively
