Duties and responsibilities:
This position works both independently and within all program teams; under the direction of Program Coordinators and Senior Supervisors. Shifts include: daytime, evenings, and weekends.
Duties include:
- Provide respite services to children, youth, and adults including transportation, activity planning and facilitating in the community, facility or the individuals home
- Provide job coaching services to youth and adults at a work site or in a community setting with a focus on developing skills to maintain employment
- Facilitate activities in day program/drop-in centre; including life skills, social recreation, crafts/baking, as well as personal/intimate care.
- Facilitate evening group programming for children/youth/adults
- Supervise 1- 6 clients who may have complex behaviors due their developmental, neurological, physical or mental illness disabilities
Qualifications:
Education:
- Diploma Human Services Field
- Valid Class 5 Drivers Licence, must have access to reliable vehicle for work/transporting clients
- Valid First Aid/CPR/AED
Experience:
- One year experience in related field working with children/youth/adults experiencing disabilities
Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills for effective communication with clients/support systems/employers
- Good observational, concentration, and insight skills
- Ability to understand/connect with individualsrecognizing and connecting diverse needs and values
- Ability to assess safety and respond to unpredictable situations with independent decision making
- Basic computer skills and ability to effectively complete documentation
