Description

Summary
The Heavy-Duty Mechanic Journeyman is required to preform skilled tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance of gas and diesel engines and heavy-duty construction equipment. The Heavy-Duty Mechanic Journeyman will have the ability to troubleshoot major and minor mechanical problems, as well as have the ability to repair and adjust all necessary mechanical components.

Construct, install/repair equipment & machinery Diagnose problems,determine repairs needed Perform daily safety/maintenance checks Repair, overhaul, maintain & service diesel & fuel injected vehicles, heavy trucks, heavy equipment, trailers & excavators Workplace safety checks of equipment for performance & inspect equipment for faults/malfunctions
Diagnose defects in equipment Diagnose/repair faults using computerized and other testing equipment
Inspect, repair & adjust gasoline and diesel-powered units Adhere to workplace safety policies & regulations Accurate completion of work orders and time sheets
Install and align engines on machinery Repair mechanically transmissions, drivetrains & final drives Repairs cable-operated working attachments Clean/lubricate & perform maintenance work
Instruct apprentices Keep accurate maintenance reports and documentation Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repairs techniques Other mechanical repair work

Requirements
Must hold a Journeymans certificate or red Seal Previous experience as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills  The ability to complete Commercial Vehicle Inspections within a licensed facility Strong attention to detail Able to deal with people professionally at all times
