Leading Thunderbird Lodge is a residential youth treatment facility located at Fort San, SK in the QuAppelle Valley. The Lodge offers a 12-week holistic and culturally based addiction and mental health treatment program for Indigenous male youth between the ages of 12-17 years. The Lodge will be re-opening in October 2021 and is looking to hire a highly motivated, enthusiastic Teacher to provide First Nation cultural curriculum for its new Land Based Program as part of the education and culture team.
Position Description
-Providing LTL's Horizontal Curriculum for youth at Land Based Camp
-Developing and teaching lesson plans
-Securing, updating and transferring student cumulative records
-Creating and facilitating land based educational activities
-Completion of required reporting on student progress
-Developing and maintaining contracts with community-based service providers
-Developing and maintaining educational partnerships with other educational organizations
Qualifications
-Education degree with a valid SK teaching certificate
-Valid Drivers license
-Lived experience and/or Knowledge of First Nations culture and ceremonies
-Knowledge and experience of facilitating land-based camp activities
-Knowledge and experience in harvesting medicines, fish, wild game
-Knowledge and experience with camping/survival skills
-General knowledge of types and effects of substance use and mental health issues
-Policy development experience would be an asset
-Valid First Aid/CPR/AED, ASIST, Non-violent crisis intervention training would be an asset
-Lives a healthy substance free lifestyle
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
